To assist with the understanding and appreciation of the Order of Confirmation the contents of the book are given below together with a number of excerpts.
The first translation of the Rite of Confirmation (1969) has long been out of print and so many will be unfamiliar with the content of the rite.
An overview of the structure of the book and the individual rites is available as a webpage and a download.
Order of Confirmation — Apostolic Constitution & Introduction
As with all the revised Roman liturgical books the Order of Confirmationhas an Introduction. It is in two parts: an Apostolic Constitution of Paul VI which provides an overview of the history and theology of the Sacrament, and an Introduction which offers a guide to the rite and the role of liturgical ministers.
Readings from Scripture
An important part of the Confirmation liturgy will be the readings from Scripture taken from the Lectionary.
In preparation are a guide to choosing the readings for the Confirmation liturgy and the texts of the readings.
Excerpts from the Rite
The following excerpts from the Order of Confirmation are offered to help people's understanding of the Order and to assist with liturgy preparation and catechesis. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
As the Order of Confirmation is in use from Easter 2016 this affects texts used at the Easter Vigil.
